Brian Reynolds leaves BHG

Wednesday, July 01, 2009 (08:15:38)

Today it was announced that Brian Reynolds, one of if not the mastermind behind Rise of Nations left BHG. His new employer apparently will be Zygna Games.

In case you think this is a good thing since he might be able to finally produce some quality RTS games again... well hope no more! As it seems all that Zygna does is programming casual "social-networking-games" for facebook and stuff. What the hell makes such a person (formerly at Microprose and Firaxis) fall so deep is beyond me (well in fact not - money rules the world). In any case: Farewell and R.I.P. RoN.

BHG saved... for now

Thursday, May 28, 2009 (06:20:40)

It seems like BHG was able to avoid being closed down after being taken over by the relatively unknow (at least to me) games company studio38.

All I know is that the new owner is working on a new online rpg and is interested in the new game engine that BHG apparently has been developing in the past few years. This does not sound too encouraging for an RTS fan...

however:
On a side node one could also learn that this very engine is designed not only for role playing games but also aiming at strategy games! At least this doesn't rule out that BHG will continue with an RTS game in the future. As a RoN fan you have to think positive Wink

R.I.P BHG?

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 (11:47:53)

Time ticking for BHG
I just have read the latest news about THQ's desperate financial struggle that already involved the closing of 6 internal game studios. Next prominent victim on the list: BHG!

Like they say in the article (unfortunately only in German language) is that THQ is now trying to find a buyer for BHG. If no one can be found within the next 2 months, they are most likely going to simply close it down.

This would ultimately bury any hope for a worthy successor to the arguably best RTS game ever Sad

Fast Raid Vol. 2

Sunday, August 31, 2008 (21:43:59)
* Cancelled (lack of players) *

Announcing: Fast Raid Vol. II
And here we go with our 2nd edition of the Fast Raid Tournaments.

This time, promised, we will be staying far away from the sea maps. Nevertheless, _FSF_Jaguar has come up with a great idea for a twist in the settings which is guaranteeing lots of fun for this Saturday evening. Just like last time we are going to announce this very detail a few minutes before the tourney kick-off. Make sure to be there... this is going to be fun!

Everything you need to know about this tournament can be accessed from the menu on the upper right corner of the site.

Questions, ideas and comments can be posted in our tournament forums as usual. See you on Saturday!

Congrats RTS_Naoto!

RTS_Naoto does it again!

Fast Raid Vol. 1 Champion: RTS_Naoto

2nd place and the silver medal: FUN_Galahad

3rd place and bronze: _FSF_Jaguar

4th place with strong play: WG_Tlaloc (no photo)

With his second tournament victory in a row and basically a "copy" of the last final, RTS_Naoto once again defeated FUN_Galahad in a dramatic final of the first Fast Raid Tournament.

_FSF_Jaguar managed to beat WG_Tloloc in the playoffs and achieved his first major success in a Mastersleague competition by taking 3rd place. For both, __FSF_Jaguar and WG_Tloloc this will result in a heavy boost in their overall 1v1 tournament ranking to be updated in the next few days.

For now we wish to congratulate not only the winners but all the participants for a great evening of RoN tonight. All results will be thoroughly updated now and preparations for the next tournament have already started.

Tonight the "surprise settings" of secret random sea map caused some upset amongst the players but to my personal surprise non of them left the lobby right away Wink Let's see what kind of unexpected things the next even might bring...

Meanwhile we have already gathered all of the recs in one archive and have put them up on the site for download. Enjoy some high class sea map fights under the following link in the download section:

1v1 Overall standings updated

Thursday, August 21, 2008 (15:41:12)

In the course of final preparations towards the new tournaments we have also updated the overall 1v1 rankings, now including Vol.II of the R.A.I.D. Tournament. This ranking will also determine the seeding for any future 1v1 tourney. Make sure to check out how you did compared to the first issue.

Fast Raid Vol. 1

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 (11:24:20)

Let us introduce: Fast Raid Vol. I
Yes, it is time for another tournament. And it is not in 2 weeks... not in 3 weeks or in 2 months... it is now!

And this time there is
  • no long wait
  • no postponement
  • no date and time polls
  • no no-shows and other fun killers
You can make it? Be there and have fun! Busy this weekend? No problem: simply join in the next one which is due rather soon.

Sign-Up will start only one day before the actual tournament starts to minimize the no shows. You can find out everything you need via the new Fast Raid Menu on the top-right corner of the site.

Questions, Problems, ideas and suggestions to the forums as usual. Let the fun begin! Smile

R.A.I.D. Vol. III

Wednesday, July 09, 2008 (06:37:19)

Attention: Tournament postponed !!!!
-> see details here

Mastersleague is proud to announce its 3rd volume of R.A.I.D. Tournaments. After two single player events we have listened to the public demand and decided to go for a 3v3 tournament instead. This also serves as a test on whether it is still possible to host team based events at all in TP.

The tournament is targetted to take place on July 26th to 27th. Details below.
After the announcement we will start working on instructions on how to create and maintain a team to participate in the tournament as well as on other details of importance for this event.

Expect the the signup period to start by next Monday (14th) latest and please use the time until then to:
  • Spread the word
  • Start organizing a team and decide who the leader shold be (private team forums can be installed on request)
  • Make sure you know the rules and try to make sure whether you have time on that weekend or not. No shows are a pain!

Meanwhile please feel free to discuss this tournament further in our R.A.I.D. Forums.

Stay tuned for more info!

Congrats Dinamo!

Monday, June 30, 2008 (06:18:29)

Congratulations Dinamo!

Our second Prediction Game winner Dinamo has proven that there is no one even closely as good when it comes to knjowledge about football as he is. With stunning 70 points as the final result, he was never remotely endangered to lose his forst place. The runner ups (Zornmeister - 49 pts and Headshot - 44 pts) showed a good performance but where at no time able to catch up with Dinamo. Well done!

Oh and btw: Cograts Spain for a well deserved victory after years and years of suffering Smile

The final prediction standings can be found in our newly created "Prediction Game" section within our MoR History.

Closing R.A.I.D. Vol.II

Sunday, June 08, 2008 (15:08:02)

Time to clean up the R.A.I.D. Vol. II tournament to make some room for upcoming events. All matches have been updated and the tournament has been closed and moved to "completed" competitions.

All 147 recs have been added to one single archive for easier downloading. You will find it here. Of course you will also find each recorded game individually on the details screen of every fixture.

Last step will be to update the tournament and overall statistics in the next days and we are ready to go for the next edition.
